The Happy Africa Foundation works to implement long-term, positive change in the lives of individuals, families and communities in Africa.
Our commitment to ‘Educate, Enrich and Empower’ points to our three main areas of focus: Education and Enrichment, Health and Nutrition and Empowering Families.
We recognise the importance of identifying and fully understanding the unique needs of each community in order to effectively and sustainably address them. To this end, we limit our reach to a smaller number of communities, enabling us to concentrate our efforts on building trust, nurturing lasting relationships and ensuring the sustainability of our involvement in each community.
The communities we work with often lack access to education, health services, nutritious food or safe places to play. Without these basic necessities it is difficult for individuals and families to feel empowered or to better themselves. Making a meaningful impact in these communities can take the form of providing access to education and health services, improving nutrition or creating a safe environment where children can play and learn.
The Happy Africa Foundation was established in 2008 as a way to responsibly manage the generous donations received from volunteers working on African Impact projects.
Starting from a small desk in Livingstone, the charity has grown into an organisation that has funded numerous initiatives and programs in the communities where African Impact volunteer projects are based. The charity is proud to have financed the building of clinics, crèches and school classrooms, provided communities with education and skills training and helped beneficiaries improve their wellbeing and quality of life through improved nutrition and the provision of much-needed health equipment.
Now based in Cape Town, The Happy Africa Foundation maintains a close partnership with African Impact and supports five employees and has a network of interns stationed at various project locations around Africa. We pride ourselves on our expertise and knowledge of sustainable and responsible development.
Our aim is to continue working with communities to improve the lives of the individuals and families who live there. Where appropriate, we seek to partner with other organisations in order to unify and strengthen efforts to bring about sustainable, positive change.
