The Happy Africa Foundation | Always moving forward. Always giving back.

How is a child chosen for help?

If the donor happens to be visiting or volunteering, they have the opportunity to choose a child to support. Volunteers often develop special connections with individual children and consequently wish to sponsor these children. However, The Happy Africa Foundation reserves the right to re-direct the donor’s intentions (should the chosen child happen to be well provided for) towards another child in greater need of sponsorship. If this is the case with a child whom you wish to sponsor then we can still facilitate communication between you and the child. You can write letters and send photographs etc. However, we ask that you respect our informed decision to re-direct your funds towards a child who has been identified as particularly vulnerable and/or deprived. The children have been identified using our own first hand experiences and knowledge, and through consultations with relevant community stakeholders (teachers, pastors, community chiefs).

If you are making a remote donation you will be able to choose a child from a list of candidates selected by the community and based on the needs of the children.

Can I request to sponsor a specific child?

If a donor has previously visited or volunteered in a specific community then they have to opportunity to choose a child to support. However, The Happy Africa Foundation reserves the right to re-direct the donation should the chosen child happen to be well provided for. In this scenario we would redirect your sponsorship to another child in greater need of support.

If I am unspecific about the child I sponsor?

Your sponsorship will go to a child attending one of our local community schools. We liaise with school and community representatives to help identify the most vulnerable children in the community.
