Nakatindi Health and Education Centre

Latest update: We are nearly there!

Since March this year we have all been working hard to complete the Centre and we are very happy to report that we have completed the construction of the building. After the plasterers finished plastering the exterior and interior walls in June the volunteers started painting in earnest at the beginning of July. It was such fun to see the building change from the cement colour, to white undercoat and then to the final colour of cream in just a matter of weeks. As you can see from the pictures - it is looking very smart with the black skirting!

The next phase is to provide the soft furnishings, build the shelves for the library and computer room and hopefully raise enough money to tile the floor in the main hall.

At a recent meeting with the local community they all expressed their gratitude on such a splendid hall and it was decided to rename the hall “Tabo Hall” which in Lozi (Nakatindi’s local tribe) means “Happy”.

The icing on the cake this week was receiving enough money to finally get the “Books for Africa” on their way. This will mean that the library and computer room will be fully equipped as soon as the container arrives.
