Welcome
Welcome to The Happy Africa Foundation website.
You may have come across this site because you were a past volunteer, someone close to you volunteered with us, or you may want to contribute to the brilliant work that is being done throughout southern and eastern Africa in the humanitarian and conservation sector.
After witnessing the amazing and inspiring work carried out by our volunteers in the schools, orphanages and clinics throughout Africa we were inspired to form a charitable foundation. The role of this foundation is to support the work we are doing in a transparent and sustainable way; ensuring that the communities we work with as well as the conservation programs we support are receiving every cent of the donations intended for them.
The Happy Africa Foundation has a number of unique aspects. Firstly, every cent of our funding goes towards promoting and advancing sustainable community and conservation development on the continent of Africa. This is an incredibly unique position in the charity sector now. Secondly, we have a passionate, inspired, motivated and driven team of volunteers and some staff who are employed locally at each project. They are in touch with the people in the communities and national parks every day and actively share the Foundation’s vision for the people of Africa. Thirdly, we pride ourselves in the quality, depth and extent of research, analysis, monitoring and planning of our development projects; ensuring that they are sustainable, empowering, working at a grass roots level and belonging to the communities.
The Happy Africa Foundation is small, but is doing amazing work with the people of Africa. There is complete transparency in what we do. Those working with us can see the difference we are making to people’s lives every day; it truly is inspiring. Our passion lies in the people, in the land and in the wildlife of this amazing continent.
I am inviting you to explore our website and understand more fully the kind of work we are doing. For those of you who have not had the privilege and pleasure of exploring Africa first hand, we challenge you to join our journey – to be more than a tourist, to be a traveler, a conservationist and a humanitarian.
I would like to thank you all for your kind support, we would not be here if it wasn’t for you! If you would like more information, please email me: lucy@africanencounter.org
Kind regards
Lucy Pollock
